Want To Rent Out Your Vacation Home?
Most people that own a vacation home rent it out during the parts of the year they aren’t there. If you’re not one of those people, you may have considered renting out your home for sale in Reunion, but aren’t sure how to do so. As your Luxury Orlando Real Estate Team, we’ve complied a few simple steps for those interested in renting out their home for other families to enjoy.
Are There Any Rules?
The very first thing you should do when renting out your Reunion home for sale is to figure out what the rules are for renting in your neighborhood. Is your home in a HOA (Homeowners Association) neighborhood? If so, what are their rules for renting? There might be certain times of the year you are unable to have renters, or you might be limited to a certain amount of renters a year. Are you able to get gate cards for them if it’s a gated community? Or do you need to have a gate code that is changed after every renter?
When Do You Want to Rent?
After that, sit down with your family or joint renters, and figure out how many weeks out of the year you want to rent out your vacation home, and how much you want to rent it out for. Do you want the prices to change based on the season? Should you offer deals for last minute weekend getaways?
How Will You Attract Renters?
You’ll also need to think about where you want to market your vacation home. There are plenty of rental listing websites you can use, or you can hire an agent. When listing your home, make sure to include:
- Pictures of each room
- A description of each room
- An availability calendar
- Nearby attractions, shopping, and restaurants
Preparing Your House
After each renter, the house must be cleaned either by you or a housekeeper. It doesn’t hurt to keep on all of the utilities, or have a maintenance team sweep through. All of the sheets and towels should be washed and set back up properly for the next round of guests. If you live nearby, these tasks might be manageable, but if you live more than an hour away or have a full-time job that doesn’t allow you to pop in once a week, you should consider hiring a maid service for assistance.
